“Running to 7-Eleven for milk. Do we need anything else?”
“Yeah, get some aspirin, sugar-free gum and, oh, pay our taxes while you’re there.”
Yes, taxpayers can now settle up with the Internal Revenue Service under the same fluorescent lights that they purchase Big Gulps and Big Bites.

n network PayNearMe have teamed with the king of convenience stores to create another option for paying taxes.
The service is aimed primarily at those without checking accounts or credit cards, or who don’t feel safe paying over the internet.
It’s not quite as easy, though, as running in and handing cash to the clerk behind the counter.
Taxes must be filed first, with the cash option selected on the payments page. The IRS will verify the information and send a payment code that can be printed or sent to a smartphone. Users must present the code at one of the 7,000 participating 7-Elevens in order to pay.

The three-step process means it’s wise not to wait, even though taxpayers get an extra three days this year, with the filing deadline bumped from the usual April 15 to April 18.
According to IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, “this provides a new way for people who can only pay their taxes in cash without having to travel to an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center.”
There are restrictions: Payment amounts are limited to $1,000 a day. The convenience will cost you, as well – there’s a $3.99 per payment service charge.
The program, which began in March, is available year-round, so late filers also will be able to take advantage of it. The service is available at 7,000 7-Eleven stores in 34 states.
Sure, nobody likes having to pay their taxes, but won’t it be a little better knowing the Slurpee machine is just a few steps away?
